AI Conversation System and Virtual Teaching Assistant

The platform provides a virtual teaching assistant powered by generative artificial intelligence to support course instruction and adaptive learning. Your conversations with the virtual teaching assistant (including text, uploaded files, and voice messages) are recorded and stored on the platform.

Instructor Access

Course instructors may review students' conversations with the virtual teaching assistant in their courses to optimize the virtual teaching assistant's settings, improve instructional design, and conduct educational research

Scope of TA access

Ordinary course TAs may not browse the full conversation records between students and the virtual teaching assistant, with two exceptions: (1) teachers and TAs of a course may both view the full messages of Socratic Dialogue and Simulated Debate sessions in the "Dialogue Grading" feature; (2) a "Super TA", for whom the teacher has signed an authorization consent form and who has personally signed a confidentiality agreement, may browse and export course conversation records during a one-month authorization period.

Learner Trait Exploration (Psychological Scales)

The platform offers learner trait exploration features, including open-source psychological assessment tools such as the Holland occupational interest inventory, the Big Five personality inventory, and a psychological type indicator.

Entirely Voluntary Participation

Completing the scales is entirely voluntary and does not affect other platform features or course grades

For Personal Reference Only

Scale results are for your personal reference only and are not shared with instructors or other students

Gender, Identity, and Demographic Data

For academic research purposes, the platform may invite you to provide information such as biological sex, gender identity, preferred pronouns, sexual orientation, and date of birth. The purpose of collection is to explore, through data science methods, potential associations between these factors and learning cognition, in order to provide more appropriate virtual teaching assistant responses.

Entirely Voluntary to Provide

Every item includes a "prefer not to disclose" option, and leaving items blank does not affect your use of the platform

Strict Privacy Protection

Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Health and Physiological Data
Wearable Device Data (Garmin)

After you authorize the platform to link your Garmin account, we may access the following activity information:

Step Count Distance Calories Heart Rate GPS Activity Time Device Information
Women's Health Data (Garmin Women's Health)

If you separately enable Women's Health data sharing in your Garmin Connect permission settings, the platform may receive menstrual cycle tracking data:

Menstrual Cycle Phase Cycle Length and Predictions Period Records Pregnancy Records Related Self-Reported Records (e.g., Blood Glucose)

This category of data is treated at the platform's highest sensitivity level: it is available only to you for personal reference, and is not used for academic research, not included in the authorizable scope of research projects, and not provided to instructors or any third party. The platform receives this data only when two conditions are both met: you check the box consenting to share Women's Health data on the Garmin authorization page, and you actually use the menstrual cycle tracking feature in Garmin Connect — if either condition is absent, the platform receives no Women's Health data at all. Users who linked Garmin before this service launched are unaffected: existing authorizations do not automatically enable this sharing, which takes effect only after re-authorization with the box checked. You may cancel this sharing at any time in Garmin Connect's third-party app permission settings, or revoke the Garmin authorization entirely.

Mobile Device Health Data

When you upload health data through the Uedu mobile application, the platform may receive the following information:

Sleep Duration Sleep Stages Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Resting Heart Rate Step Count Active Calories Distance Traveled

Data sources include Apple HealthKit and Android Health Connect.

How the Data Is Used
Personalized Recommendations

Providing personalized health and learning feedback

De-identified Research

Service Optimization

Internal Use Only

Data is used internally only, and disclosed solely with your explicit consent or as required by law

Revoke Authorization at Any Time

You may revoke authorization at any time and request the deletion of related health and physiological data

This policy was last updated on September 14, 2026

This website reserves the right to revise this Privacy Policy at any time; revisions will be announced on this page. In the event of material changes, the platform may notify users through website announcements or email.
